A few answers about what we do, what we don't do - and why.
- How does SchenkstDu work?
- You describe the person - in one sentence, in your own words. A language model reads along, asks back if anything is missing, and proposes five gift ideas that fit what you said. No pre-made lists, no filter quiz.
- Are my inputs stored?
- No. What you type into the input field goes to the AI, is used to generate the suggestions, and is not kept afterwards. We do not store anything that could identify you or the person you're shopping for. Details in the privacy policy.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing. We earn if you buy something through one of our partner links - a small commission from the shop, at no extra cost to you. Don't buy, and it costs you nothing. Buy, and it still costs you nothing extra.
- Why do so many links go to Amazon?
- Because Amazon was the first shop that took us on as a partner, and because so many of our suggestions are actually listed there. We're working on additional partners (Manufactum, Otto, Avocadostore, others). Until then: the idea matters more than the link - many suggestions are available at your local shop too.
- Are the gift ideas really generated by AI?
- Yes, a language model writes them. But we give the model a lot of context - how gifts fail, what counts as cliché, what a thoughtful friend sounds like - and discard results that read like ad copy. The output sits closer to a good book recommendation than to a marketing list.
- What if none of the five ideas fit?
- Tell us in the refine field which direction to shift - "less practical", "more handmade", "completely out of the box". The next five are tailored to your correction. You can keep turning the dial as often as you want.
- Can I share the ideas with someone?
- Yes. Every result list has a "Copy link" button. The link encodes the five ideas in the URL - no database, no account, nothing on our servers. Whoever opens it sees the same list.
- Who is behind SchenkstDu?
- 3W Xpert UG (haftungsbeschränkt), based in Potsdam, Germany. We're a small team building this project on the belief that most gifts could be better - if someone thought along with the giver. Address and contact in the imprint.
- What do you track?
- Only what you allow. On your first visit we ask for consent to statistics cookies. Say no and we see nothing except the anonymous server logs (which we delete after 14 days). Say yes and we see, anonymised, which occasions and ideas resonate - so we can improve.
- How can I give feedback?
- By email to info@3w-x.com. We read everything ourselves and usually reply within a day. If an idea worked well (or especially badly), write to us - that's the best training material we have right now.
